Prayer no. 44 · Theme G

I Am Revived by the Fire of the Holy Spirit

A prayer to rekindle my spiritual fire · to serve God with joy

And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

Acts 2:3 (KJV)

Introduction

The fire of the Holy Spirit does not come to destroy, but to illuminate and purify. On the day of Pentecost, it rested on each of the disciples: no one was left out. That same fire wants to awaken in you the love for God that has fallen asleep, to burn away lukewarmness, and to turn every weakness into divine strength. Open your heart to Him: wherever the fire falls, life begins again.

The heart of the prayer

Prayer

Father, thank You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit. I praise You, for Your fire burns in me and Your breath renews me. Revive my prayer and rekindle the passion of the early days, burning even brighter. Purify my motives, burn away what does not please You, and let Your flame of power and love rest on me as it rested on the disciples at Pentecost. I receive this fire with joy. Make me a torch in Your hand for my generation, a warm light for everyone I meet. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Key Line

The fire of God does not go out in me: I am a torch in His hand for my generation.
